Certified by Fair Trade USA. This coffee hails from a cooperative union of farmers in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. Premiums are returned directly to farmers and the union funds organic farming and food security programs; additionally, the union is a founding shareholder of its members’ bank, which provides pre-harvest financing and crop insurance, which were historically unavailable to rural farmers in Ethiopia. As of 2020, this cooperative supports more than 400,000 households.
